Just a quickie tonight, because the 4th of July holiday weekend is kicking my ass at work, and I have to get up at some ungodly hour in the morning. Bleh.
Viv Draper posted in Ducknipple recently, and it reminded me I haven’t been in a while, which I had to correct forthwith! So here you have some of the fruits of that shopping trip. Enjoy!

Steampowered Nuts is a huge steampunk-themed shop that has somehow escaped my notice until recently. They have everything from weapons to vehicles to clothes and accessories by various vendors. I’ll give you one guess what section I made a beeline for.
One of the goodies I picked up there is the Crimson Night set by Unzipped. This set includes an optional prim cape, sleeve flounces, two different skirt styles, and my favorite: bloomers.
I do have to nitpick a bit about the seams on the clothing layers. Not an issue with the prim skirts, but clearly seen if you wear the bloomers. All in all though, a beautiful set with rich texturing, good prim work, and enough options to make anyone happy.

Yes, still running around in the silk blindfold from Illusions. I keep meaning to take it off, but then I put on something new, color-match the blindfold with a simple click, and it looks so good together that I decide to keep it on.

I’m still sorting through all of my Hair Fair acquisitions. Both of today’s are from Diversity Hair. I really could kick myself for never having visited before, as I’m quite impressed with what I saw at the fair.

My sultry southern amigos and amigas are melting in the heat.
You know who you are <3

So flee to my northern ice lair!

Where I will cool you all in the ice bar with frozen potions.

And soothe your fevered brows while you nom on Gin infused Arctic Char

And after, when we are ready, we will kick off our boots and sleep dreamlessly on beds of ice.

*smiles

When I spotted the amazing Ishiko hair in the Philotic Energy booth at Hair Fair, I knew I didn’t even need to try a demo. An elegant geisha style, bedecked with bones and skulls… I had no choice but to own it.
Then I discovered that Yukio Ida of [Gauze] had created a kimono inspired by the hair. Ishiko is a companion to the Ghost Hakama from [][]Trap[][] (which I blogged previously,) and both pieces rank among some of the most stunning and creatively interpreted clothing I’ve ever worn in SL.
I have an urge to go read Japanese ghost stories, now.

In other news, today marks one year to the day since I started Strange Pixels. I wasn’t even sure at the time if this would stick. I do have a tendency to start projects with a bang, only to fizzle out and slink away shortly thereafter. This little corner of the web that I began on a lark has become one of the most enjoyable ongoing projects that I’ve ever counted myself lucky enough to be a part of. Many hugs to Grady, Dan, and Recidivist for the love and attention they’ve dedicated to SP. Without this combination of voices, our conversation would grow quiet.
Thank you to all of you readers who have indulged us as we learn, grow, and find our path. <3

Another dual post featuring Achariya and myself, this time looking truly outrageous (and more than a bit trippy) as we frolic among the fungi.

Psychadelic pics and outfit details are over at Acha’s blog.

Two more new hair fair acquisitions, and two older Silent Sparrow releases to remind you about hyasynth’s stupendous half-off sale! If you haven’t availed yourself to this bargain yet, you’ll have to hurry. Sale ends tonight at midnight.
Edit: Apparently the sale ends tomorrow. Wednesday, 6/24/09. Whoops!

The “Cog Mistress” hair from The Stringer Mausoleum was just too perfect a match for Silent Sparrow’s “Toxine” suit. And the cog hair ornaments are a separate attachment, so you can wear the hair without them.

Mourna a blonde!? That might just be one of the signs of the apocalypse.
I always have the most difficult time choosing my colors at Silent Sparrow. They’re all so beautiful and rich, I stand there in a muttering little flutter of indecision for what seems like an eternity. Then I usually default to my standard red or black for easier mix-and-matching. But this great sale as afforded me the opportunity to pick up some different colors than my norm, as seen above.

The Koreshan bake sale ends today around noonish, and I couldn’t let it pass by without pointing out a couple of favorites.

The macabrely adorable Death Sugar Sugar dress from Schadenfreude. Sweet icing piping and skulls embellish this arsenic-filled-cake of a frock. The hair is from Wasabi Pills, another Hair Fair treasure. Also of note are the glossy saddle-style boots from Sn@tch, which I had a downright squee-ing fit over when I saw.

Silent Sparrow’s Meat Jacket, complete with inspection stamp tattoo, and an adorable little steak charm hanging from the belt. Is this one of my favorite things in SL evar? Why yes, yes it is. This is a jacket after my own little carnivorous heart. The hair is from Draconic Kiss’ hair fair selection.
In both pics I’m wearing some of Nomine’s specialty skins, all on sale for $L100 a pop right now. Harlequin skins, vampire skins, greasemonkey skins, fantasy colored skins… If that sounds like your kinda thing, head over to Nomine before Wednesday and scoop ‘em up.
