Hats with feathers. The upcoming July 4th. There is a yankee-doodly play on words to be made there, but I just don’t have the cheese in me to do it it. Consider yourself unamused, and let’s move on…
Wandering aimlessly last night, I ran across two, that’s right TWO befeathered top hats with hair attached. My relationship with hats is usually a one-way affair. I love hats… they just don’t love me back.
Yes, I know they’re similar. Yes, I still had to have them both. Don’t give me that look. Come on, just LOOK at them. You’d have done the same. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t.
The first is the Thursday Hat from Gritty Kitty, and has some really nice scripting options for changing the hat, hatband, and feather colors. The attached hair is long and wavy, with a loose knot in the back.

The next is Noah, from Philotic Energy. No scripting, but the feathers can be easily tinted since the hat is mod. The hair is short, messy, and kind of frantic.

And while we’re on the subject of feathery hats, I would be absolutely remiss if I didn’t mention one of the new piratey hats to come from the talented little fingers of Siyu Suen of Illusions.
They’re all covet-worthy, but my favorite of the bunch is the Bard’s Hat:

Once again, Siyu shows off her unholy talent with sculpted prims. The hat shape is smooth and perfect. The feathers cascade down the center in a clever mixture of sculpted and flexi prims. Both the hat and feathers are scripted with a beautiful selection of textures and colors.
I don’t know if any feathered fowl were harmed in the making of this post, but I don’t really care.
SLurls after the cut.
