Strange Pixels

So I wake up every morning looking like this and feeling like crap.

But that’s the good part, it always gets worse.

By noon, much worse.

And by afternoon, I generally look like this.

Hunting brainz is a hard job.

By midnight, I’m toast.

It’s the working life.

In the morning, I get up and do it all again.

Isn’t there a Greek Myth about this?

Life in the wastelands………….changes a person.

I used to be a fashion model,  Acha was an academic. But that was before the fall.

Now we grub for techno-relics in the wastes.

I push the pick and shovel, she keeps our gear working.

Heh, guess those relics aren’t going to uncover themselves.

Word around the campfire says there is an old movie projector and some movies buried hereabouts.

Now that would be a kick, to see something like Dr. Strangelove again.

Had my hair done at Diamanda’s Swamp Salon & Barbershop.

Paid my rent to Neo. Headed for home. Life is good.

The first time I ran into Cutea Benelli she was providing some customer support to a distraught panda bear in her Grim Bros. store.  All in a day’s work  for one of The Wastelands premier outfitters of Post-Apoc clothing, backpacks, and the general necessities of survival in the land of mutant zombies with ‘tude. (Although I do think that incident did colour her design choices when it came time to make a new Grim Bros. outfit.) :)

Cutea is modelling her “Convincing Argument” outfit, which translates as “There is NO such thing as Too Heavily Armed!” When a gal has a killer sense of humour she needs a killer outfit!

If naked tooth and claw competition for survival in the burning wastes isn’t your thing though, Cutea also makes a wide range of outfits and accessories in other genres including Retro-Victoriana and CyberPunk (as blogged here at SP a few months ago. Cyber-Glam)

[God, I suck at titling posts.]

I love silks, unapologetically.   I really have no occasion to wear them, but that doesn’t stop me from prancing around in them at every opportunity.  Really, what’s the point of a virtual paperdoll, if you can’t don a skimpy dancing costume and bellydance around in your skybox?  None, so there.

Of course, silks of the string-and-scrap-of-fabric variety don’t hold any appeal for me.  Like all my clothing, I look for something with an unusual twist, and the new Rust Shaman set from Dark Eden fits that description perfectly.

100% prim silks are always a marvel to me.  Most of the time they can be a complete pain in the ass to fit, but these worked surprisingly well out of the box.  (Helped along by the thoughtful inclusion of small and large sizes for the main pieces.)  I’m not a delicate kind of girl, and this isn’t a delicate set of silks.  Rough, torn fabric is held in place by rusty bits of wire, cogs, and other scraps of salvage.  The subtle pentagram theme also gives it a nice esoteric kinda feeling.

And just FYI:  I did, in fact, photoshop my nipples out of the sheer top.  Because.  Well, I don’t know you that well yet.  Buy me dinner first, then we’ll talk. :p

I usually end up piecing together elements of my favorite silks to include in a more traditional outfit, so I decided to show you an example of how I incorporated these into a street look.

Voila!  With just a slight bit of modding, the loincloth becomes a belt!

The centre couldn’t hold.

Now I’m left standing in the glow of a burning civilisation.

What’s a girl to do?

Make a choker and a bracelet of some salvaged wiring, pick up some old plumbing, and get ready to brain any mutant zombie who gives me ‘tude. (They mostly come at night…mostly.)

And get on with it.

When your fav uptown boutique is now smoking rubble, one has to improvise.

Damm, I could use a latte!
