WILD.Released is Coming

I am not a person who usually enjoys hunts in SL.  The tedium just outweighs the haul for me in most cases.  That’s not to say there aren’t some great finds and participants, it’s just not generally my cuppa.

There are, however, notable exceptions.  And the upcoming WILD.Released stamp hunt is a big one.  It’s the brainchild of Faery Sola (of Studio Sidhe,) so that should tell you something about it right there.  If you haven’t heard of it, head over to the WILD.Released blog to learn more and get all excited with me.  It’s a small hunt, with some of my absolute favorite SL artists participating.  And let me tell ya, the prizes that I’ve seen are absolutely top notch.

I get the honor of showing you two of the upcoming prizes.  First up is the amazing Lysi set from ~silentsparrow~

And here is  the stunning Magma Crown  from [][]Trap[][].

Mourna - at a Silent Sparrow Near You!

To have one of your favorite creators design an outfit with you in mind is an honor.   For it to be so spot-on as something you’d love,  and drop-dead gorgeous,  is fully squee-worthy.  What I’m trying to say here is:  ZOMG HYA MADE AN OUTFIT NAMED AFTER ME AND IT’S AAAWWWESOMEEE!

*coughs*

In so many words.

The Mourna set from Silent Sparrow is part dancing silks, part burlesque.  I love the  sleek, velvety, button-up corset, the subtle little ruffles peeping out, the fingerless gloves, and so many other great little details.   And it is available in Hyasynth’s usual complement of rich colors that make it impossible to choose a favorite.

I’m wearing another one of the beautiful new Mosaic skins from Nomine.  And to complete the circle of my vanity, I had no choice but to choose one of the Mourna makeup styles.

I’m going to wrap this up, before I have to start resizing my hair to fit on my gigantic head.

Ivy & Neet

Siyu Suen of Illusions has recently released the viney and fantastically twisty curly leafy Hedera silks.  Ok, that was a lot of adjectives.  And yet, still not enough to express how much I adore these silks.

(I conjectured all kinds of meaning for the name Hedera when I first saw them.  I’d finally settled on some woodland nymph or nature goddess.  Then I Googled it, and found it that it was actually a kind of ivy!  Which is, of course, incredibly fitting.)

This set comes with top and bottom clothing layers, a prim leather loincloth, and a zillion different prim vine parts that twine about different parts of your body.  They are modifiable and are fitted quite easily.  But truly, not much fitting was needed.  I’m not sure what kind of magic Siyu used to coil these so perfectly around the avatar shape, but perfectly she did it.

They also look.. *ahem*… quite nice without the top.

The beautiful tattoos are part of the impressive new Sphinx skin from Trap.  I picked it up at the Harajukubox Skin Fair, which ended so quickly I didn’t get a chance to blog it first.  But Selos assures me that they will be available in the store today-ish.

The combination of the silks, the skin, and the faun bits is just too perfect.  I feel like a member of a hidden forest tribe who paint  their bodies with ash and minerals and run around with bows and arrows and pan pipes and whatnot.  It’s very idyllic, I assure you.

Veiled Illusions

We interrupt this regularly scheduled Halloween-themed post to squee about the Jewelry Expo a bit.

Let me first tip my metaphoric hat to Miriel Enfield for all of her hard work and perseverence.  This has to be one of the most pleasant and lag-free Expos I’ve ever attended.   Every future expo organizer should come to her for lessons.

Now onto the goodies.

There were many many beautiful things there, but in today’s post I’m going to focus on the offerings from Siyu Suen of Illusions.  Her mastery of the sculpted prim is truly a marvel.  I keep thinking she can’t get any better, and she keeps proving me wrong.

Like all of her releases, these sets are delightfully scripted with an infinite variety of fabric, metal, and stone selections.   Note to all jewelry designers:  I’m much more likely to buy your creations if I can change the colors to match my outfit.

For the Expo, Siyu has released 4 Jewelry and Veil sets.  You simply must see the veils in person, as she sculpted them to actually fit over the shape of a face.  They even fit over my prodigious schnoz!

The Amirah set, with its intricate and beautiful frills and curls.  Shown in Antiqued Silver and Black.

These silks from Miriel make me sad that she’s never made another set.  I especially love the cut of the bottoms, which prove that you don’t have to wear a thong to be sexy

The Bahiya set, my personal favorite.  Shown in Antiqued silver and Black.

This is my staple set of silks.  I adore harem pants, and I’m not sure why there aren’t more available in SL.

The Suleika set, shown in Antiqued silver, Blue, and Sodalite stone.

The Madiyah set, shown in Antiqued Silver, Black & White, and Black Onyx.

Wastelands Silks, Two Takes

[God, I suck at titling posts.]

I love silks, unapologetically.   I really have no occasion to wear them, but that doesn’t stop me from prancing around in them at every opportunity.  Really, what’s the point of a virtual paperdoll, if you can’t don a skimpy dancing costume and bellydance around in your skybox?  None, so there.

Of course, silks of the string-and-scrap-of-fabric variety don’t hold any appeal for me.  Like all my clothing, I look for something with an unusual twist, and the new Rust Shaman set from Dark Eden fits that description perfectly.

100% prim silks are always a marvel to me.  Most of the time they can be a complete pain in the ass to fit, but these worked surprisingly well out of the box.  (Helped along by the thoughtful inclusion of small and large sizes for the main pieces.)  I’m not a delicate kind of girl, and this isn’t a delicate set of silks.  Rough, torn fabric is held in place by rusty bits of wire, cogs, and other scraps of salvage.  The subtle pentagram theme also gives it a nice esoteric kinda feeling.

And just FYI:  I did, in fact, photoshop my nipples out of the sheer top.  Because.  Well, I don’t know you that well yet.  Buy me dinner first, then we’ll talk. :p

I usually end up piecing together elements of my favorite silks to include in a more traditional outfit, so I decided to show you an example of how I incorporated these into a street look.

Voila!  With just a slight bit of modding, the loincloth becomes a belt!

Outfit details after the cut.

Just a quick heads-up, PixelDolls has released a fantastic freebie!

And I’m a freebie snob, so you’d better listen up when I mention one. :P

Get thee to PixelDolls, grab the box with the skulls on just by the entrance, and worship Nephilaine Protagonist accordingly thereafter.

Bone choker, arm, and leg bands are from a set by Unique Needs.

Full credits and SLurls after the cut.
