Strange Citizens ~ Krikon Ackmann and Siena Arbenlow

Every now and then, as I am shopping, or doing a shoot, I run into someone with a truly amazing av. Normally I would take a pic or two, perhaps compliment them if I have time for a conversation. I ran into Krikon Ackmann while I was doing the shoot for Memento Mori and was so impressed I decided I needed to share his av foo with you. A few days later we arranged to meet to take some pics and he asked if he include his friend Siena. I am so glad he did as her av is a perfect mate to his.  Thank you both. <3

She Walks In Beauty
by Lord Byron

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Strange Citizen: Whirligig Rutabaga

Whirli and I have been discussing which is harder to create… a human av, or a furry one.  Whirli says human.  I say I could never in a million years put together fantastic looks like this one.

The Crux av by Mutation Industries is one of my favorite non-humans on the grid, and Whirligig uses a fantastic sense of style to make it completely unique.

I hope Whirli forgives me for the pink background.  I just couldn’t help meself.  ^.^

Strange Citizen ~ Cutea Benelli

The first time I ran into Cutea Benelli she was providing some customer support to a distraught panda bear in her Grim Bros. store.  All in a day’s work  for one of The Wastelands premier outfitters of Post-Apoc clothing, backpacks, and the general necessities of survival in the land of mutant zombies with ‘tude. (Although I do think that incident did colour her design choices when it came time to make a new Grim Bros. outfit.) :)

Cutea is modelling her “Convincing Argument” outfit, which translates as “There is NO such thing as Too Heavily Armed!” When a gal has a killer sense of humour she needs a killer outfit!

If naked tooth and claw competition for survival in the burning wastes isn’t your thing though, Cutea also makes a wide range of outfits and accessories in other genres including Retro-Victoriana and CyberPunk (as blogged here at SP a few months ago. Cyber-Glam)

Details below the line in the sand.

Strange Citizen ~ Juana Manuel

La Costumière is a word the French use to describe someone who facilitates the costumes for theatrical productions. I can’t think of a better word to describe Juana, for whom SL is at once stage and dressing room and audience. I have known Juana since her first days in SL, and have been progressively dazzled by her growing assurance in how she presents herself to us. The costume she is wearing here reflects both her Spanish/American heritage and her interest in the rituals and customs of Meso-America. If this seems overly formal, sue me, I can’t help it. She is one cool chica.

Details below the cut.

Strange Citizen: Fifi Noel

[Meep!  Sorry so long without a post.  Work has been whoopin' my ass lately, but hopefully that's about to change.]

Everyone probably has at least one person like Fifi on their Friends List.  Well not actually like Fifi, because Fifi is a special and unique, beautiful snowflake. I mean one of those people.  You know, the one that you can’t wait for her to rez so you can see what she’s wearing and start frantically inspecting all of her prims?

>.>

… not that I run out and immediately buy the things I see Fifi wearing…

<.<

…OK, I do.  But come on! Just LOOK at her:

Can you really blame me?

I think not.

You, too, can discover the secrets of the Fifers.  Just follow the cut…

Strange Citizen: scrim Pinion

Strange Citizens:  A new series, in which I highlight unusual and distinctively styled avatars that I might know or run across.

And to show my obvious bias, I’m kicking it off with my SL partner and one of my best friends, scrim Pinion.

Scrim’s ensemble is a combination of pieces from three different outfits, all from Avid.  I generally steer clear of such heavily photo-sourced clothing, but you can’t deny that Avid does it well.

SLurls after the cut.
