Strange Pixels

I am not a person who usually enjoys hunts in SL.  The tedium just outweighs the haul for me in most cases.  That’s not to say there aren’t some great finds and participants, it’s just not generally my cuppa.

There are, however, notable exceptions.  And the upcoming WILD.Released stamp hunt is a big one.  It’s the brainchild of Faery Sola (of Studio Sidhe,) so that should tell you something about it right there.  If you haven’t heard of it, head over to the WILD.Released blog to learn more and get all excited with me.  It’s a small hunt, with some of my absolute favorite SL artists participating.  And let me tell ya, the prizes that I’ve seen are absolutely top notch.

Be warned:  if I see you in something cool, I will nab it.  (And no anti-inspect device can stop me. ;))

Today’s boots are from Rebel Hope, and I nabbed them from Achariya.  (She’s looking fabulous in them over here.)  They’re just so soft and velvety looking; one of those things in SL I just wish I could reach out and touch.

The accessories I’m wearing are from LouLou&Co.   I visited this shop a while back, but their selection was pretty limited and I promptly forgot about them.  Then I saw the always-glamorous Munchflower wearing the necklace and belt, and I scurried over as fast as my little teleport could carry me.  They have really built up an impressive selection since I last went, and onto my regular-stop list they now go.

This set greatly appeals to me, with it perfect little beads, skulls, crosses, ribbons, and flowers.  The belt in particular deserves some close attention.  It’s very ornate, with lots of attached little baubles and links and well textured bits of leather.  It resizes easily, and fits like a dream.

I really love this shirt from Rotten Toe.  I have a weakness for stand-up collars, even if they are a pain to find hair and accessories for.  It comes with cool raggedy prim tails, but I couldn’t work them in with the belt.

I’m also wearing one of the new Enchanted skins from Cupcakes.  It’s always fascinating to me how much difference a skin can make on an avatar.  To me, Cupcakes skins have a very mature and… regal look to them.  Some of the complaints I had about previous Cupcakes skins (such as overly-severe body shading) have been addressed in this new line, while retaining all the thing I love about them.  They’re definitely worth checking out.  My only complaint with this new line is that the lightest skin tone is at least a few shades darker than their previous lightest.

Two more new hair fair acquisitions, and two older Silent Sparrow releases to remind you about hyasynth’s stupendous half-off sale!  If you haven’t availed yourself to this bargain yet, you’ll have to hurry.  Sale ends tonight at midnight.

The “Cog Mistress” hair from The Stringer Mausoleum was just too perfect a match for Silent Sparrow’s “Toxine” suit.  And the cog hair ornaments are a separate attachment, so you can wear the hair without them.

Mourna a blonde!? That might just be one of the signs of the apocalypse.

I always have the most difficult time choosing my colors at Silent Sparrow. They’re all so beautiful and rich, I stand there in a muttering little flutter of indecision for what seems like an eternity.  Then I usually default to my standard red or black for easier mix-and-matching.  But this great sale as afforded me the opportunity to pick up some different colors than my norm, as seen above.

I was sorting inventory a few days ago, and noticed just what a large chunk of my inventory was occupied by clothing from Sn@tch.   This brought me to the realization that I’ve never really done a  Sn@tch-dedicated blogpost, and I knew I had to rectify that right away.

It would be impossible to narrow down my favorite outfits ever, so let’s just call these my current favorites.

One of the things I love about Sn@tch is that, instead of selling individual colors, Ivey packs up all her color choices together, and sells them for the same prices that alot of folks sell singles for.  So instead of going for my automatic black or red, I get to try out some colors I never would have.

Oh!  And if you’re not a member of the update group, you totally should be.   Besides being full of notices of goodies and such, they’re written very humorously, and are a bright point of my SL week.

This post gave me the opportunity to show off the killer new Hex boots from First Flower in three superb colors.

Also of note are: awesome new tattoos from Silent Sparrow, adorable new hair from Refuge, and cool hair from a new-to-me shop called Foam (where I dropped a bundle, lemme tell ya.)

You know, it’s funny.   Girls in SL have about ten times more available content than boys do.  And yet, when I see something cool that’s just for the boys, I throw a squalling jealous fit.  Such was the case when Winter Jefferson blogged Arcavim a while back.  After pouting for a few days, it occurred to me that the tops at least might also work for women.  So I hied  myself over forthwith, and lo and behold! I has new vests!

Because I’m only able to show you still pictures here, some of the coolness factor is leeched from this outfit.  Both the wings and the hat are full of awesome animated turny twisty bits and gears.  I urge you to check them out in the pixels.

This awesome belt from [NC] is full of all kinds of cool scripted options:  different metals, conch stones, and buttons and pins for the bag.  It’s also scripted for size, as well as being fully modifiable .  Ahhh, accessory bliss. <3

PS:  I was listening to Abney Park while photographing this set, to put me in the mood.  If you haven’t heard them… well why not?  They are awesome.   Start here, this song rocks.  The title of this post is also pulled from a song of theirs.  (Thanks Viv!)

Strange Pixels has a new home!

Huzzah for a new server, a new theme, and lots of shiny pretties to play with!  Thank you so much to Kavik for everything he’s done.  :heart:  You rock big time, Mr. Brock!!

Now on to the bloggins…

I know some people dress for the seasons in SL, but I just can’t bring myself to care about that in here.

It’s starting to feel like spring outside, but that doesn’t matter in here.  I can have autumn if I want to.

Hopefully everyone knows that Aki Shichiroji sells stunning plants, trees, and landscaping items through her shop Organica.  But did you know she also sells avatar accessories under the Kitheres brand?  Today I’m wearing a pair of her awesome sculpted boots, scripted with tons of colors.

Achariya pointed me towards this lovely jacket from Juju’s Closet.  It is unfortunately made for men, so the prim lapels just couldn’t be persuaded to cooperate.  But it is made well enough to be worn without and still look great.

The skirt is newish from Sn@tch, and I love the unique shape of the square prims.

You won’t see me blogging something like jeans very often… but these from DP YUMYUM are extra special.  I have to say they’ve quickly become my favorite pair of jeans in inventory.  I especially love the butt. ^.^  They’re available in different colors, and I’m going to go back and get every single one.

Den-Dou skins…. I’m still undecided, for me.  They look absolutely adorable on some people.  I have real issues with the eyebrows, hence the shaggy-banged do in this set.  However, the lips are luscious and beautiful, and the eyes are lovely.

All of the poses from today’s post are from Sweet Lovely Cute.  A couple of people have passed me this LM when I asked them where they got their darling AO animations.  Really cute, fidgety, sweet animations.  To my delight, I found out that they have a very nice selection of modelling poses as well.
