Strange Pixels

I am not a person who usually enjoys hunts in SL.  The tedium just outweighs the haul for me in most cases.  That’s not to say there aren’t some great finds and participants, it’s just not generally my cuppa.

There are, however, notable exceptions.  And the upcoming WILD.Released stamp hunt is a big one.  It’s the brainchild of Faery Sola (of Studio Sidhe,) so that should tell you something about it right there.  If you haven’t heard of it, head over to the WILD.Released blog to learn more and get all excited with me.  It’s a small hunt, with some of my absolute favorite SL artists participating.  And let me tell ya, the prizes that I’ve seen are absolutely top notch.

The wonderfully striped and gothy Lost and Damned dress from Sn@tch comes in a pack with red, purple, or black.  (The gothic rainbow, as it were.)

I love this outfit so much… it really suits me.  And there’s something very pleasing to me about how well the buckles on the corset, the boots, and the collar all match.

The jewelled ankh (also from Sn@tch) changes colors with a click, so it can also be matched quite easily.

Also of note is the newish Fader hair from Gritty Kitty.  Oh Gritty Kitty hair, how I love thee.  Truly, you can do no wrong.

Two more new hair fair acquisitions, and two older Silent Sparrow releases to remind you about hyasynth’s stupendous half-off sale!  If you haven’t availed yourself to this bargain yet, you’ll have to hurry.  Sale ends tonight at midnight.

The “Cog Mistress” hair from The Stringer Mausoleum was just too perfect a match for Silent Sparrow’s “Toxine” suit.  And the cog hair ornaments are a separate attachment, so you can wear the hair without them.

Mourna a blonde!? That might just be one of the signs of the apocalypse.

I always have the most difficult time choosing my colors at Silent Sparrow. They’re all so beautiful and rich, I stand there in a muttering little flutter of indecision for what seems like an eternity.  Then I usually default to my standard red or black for easier mix-and-matching.  But this great sale as afforded me the opportunity to pick up some different colors than my norm, as seen above.

You know, it’s funny.   Girls in SL have about ten times more available content than boys do.  And yet, when I see something cool that’s just for the boys, I throw a squalling jealous fit.  Such was the case when Winter Jefferson blogged Arcavim a while back.  After pouting for a few days, it occurred to me that the tops at least might also work for women.  So I hied  myself over forthwith, and lo and behold! I has new vests!

Because I’m only able to show you still pictures here, some of the coolness factor is leeched from this outfit.  Both the wings and the hat are full of awesome animated turny twisty bits and gears.  I urge you to check them out in the pixels.

This awesome belt from [NC] is full of all kinds of cool scripted options:  different metals, conch stones, and buttons and pins for the bag.  It’s also scripted for size, as well as being fully modifiable .  Ahhh, accessory bliss. <3

Just a simple black dress, but I love the design.  Hood up or down options, nice sculpted pieces.  And if skirtums ain’t your thing, you could leave the center prim off and wear it as a cute shorts jumpsuit.

I just love this “Moth Cellar” accessory set from KOSH.  It reminds me of a story I read once, in which an ugly god painted his face with the dust from moth wings to make himself beautiful.  But I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the story.  Anyone?

When I get a new release notice from Sinistyle, I usually TP over before it finishes rezzing.  These new combat boots were not a disappointment.  Displaying Krius’ usual magnificent texture work and attention to detail, they quickly rise to the position of Mah Verrah Favorite PixelBoots.

Although anyone who’s working against the deadline will probably scowl at me for saying so, I’m really impatient to see the Relay for Life Clothing Fair begin.  I caught a peek at some of the participating merchants for this year, and along with many familiar and favorite shops, I see many new faces… well, new to me.   So I’m banking on some new goodies and finds.  Also, the theme is pirates.  So there is the potential for some cool builds and some nifty themed releases.

Like the new release from Ookami Ningen, which I am absolutely in love with, and wore around for a good solid week.  (If you know me at all, you know how unusual that is. :D)

Pictured above is Kaizoku Night, in black and red.  Below is Kaizoku special RFL Earth edition in mink.  Both will be available at the Ookami Ningen RFL booth for the duration of the Clothing Fair, then in the main shop location.

This outfit mostly came into being because I was searching for “spider” -something in my inventory, and I realized I had lots of cool webby spidery stuff I’d never shown.

The clockwork spider necklace is worth seeing in person.  It has all kinds of cool little mechanical spinny bits.

A good shrug is something I always have my eye out for in SL, so I love love the new Shruggies from silentsparrow.
