When I spotted the amazing Ishiko hair in the Philotic Energy booth at Hair Fair, I knew I didn’t even need to try a demo.  An elegant geisha style, bedecked with bones and skulls… I had no choice but to own it.

Then I discovered that Yukio Ida of [Gauze] had created a kimono inspired by the hair.  Ishiko is a companion to the Ghost Hakama from [][]Trap[][] (which I blogged previously,) and both pieces rank among some of the most stunning and creatively interpreted clothing I’ve ever worn in SL.

I have an urge to go read Japanese ghost stories, now.

In other news, today marks one year to the day since I started Strange Pixels.  I wasn’t even sure at the time if this would stick.  I do have a tendency to start projects with a bang, only to fizzle out and slink away shortly thereafter.  This little corner of the web that I began on a lark has become one of the most enjoyable ongoing projects that I’ve ever counted myself lucky enough to be a part of.  Many hugs to Grady, Dan, and Recidivist for the love and attention they’ve dedicated to SP.  Without this combination of voices, our conversation would grow quiet.

Thank you to all of you readers who have indulged us as we learn, grow, and find our path. <3

At Achariya’s request, I don a Silent Sparrow bum-bow today.

The set of sleeves I have on is a little tidbit I learned from Siyu Suen.  They’re part of a lovely Paper Couture outfit, snow white and easily tintable.  A real wardrobe staple for me.

I’m teasing you again today with another of the fantastic new revamped Nomine Sylvan skins, due to be released this weekend.  I know that every time Munch releases new skins I declare them my MOST FAVORITEST EVAR, but I really mean it this time!

The flowers in this lovely Philotic Energy hair are scripted to color change, although I have hand-tinted them to match this particular shade of blue.

Carnival of Excess

The Illusions Mardi Gras Masquerade was this past Saturday night.  As expected, the gathered and assemblage were decked out to the utter nines.

When dressing for a Siyu party, I know I have to put everything I have into an outfit.  Eye candy doesn’t even begin to describe the glittering throng.

I like to grumble about the 200-prim limit Siyu always imposes, but in truth it is a fun challenge to work with.  Not to mention, it levels the playing field somewhat.  With this ensemble, I tweaked and poked until I scraped in at my standard 199 prims. :D

Merriment was had by partygoers all ’round, but I was oblivious to it all as I danced the night away with merman-Achariya. ^.^

Step into my lab, child.

Can I fix you a drink? ;)

Safe?  Oh my yes.  Safe as houses.

I drank it myself… didn’t change me a bit…

Feather-Brained

Hats with feathers.  The upcoming July 4th.  There is a yankee-doodly play on words to be made there, but I just don’t have the cheese in me to do it it.  Consider yourself unamused, and let’s move on…

Wandering aimlessly last night, I ran across two, that’s right TWO befeathered top hats with hair attached.  My relationship with hats is usually a one-way affair.  I love hats… they just don’t love me back.

Yes, I know they’re similar.  Yes, I still had to have them both.  Don’t give me that look.  Come on, just LOOK at them.  You’d have done the same.  Don’t tell me you wouldn’t.

The first is the Thursday Hat from Gritty Kitty, and has some really nice scripting options for changing the hat, hatband, and feather colors.  The attached hair is long and wavy, with a loose knot in the back.

The next is Noah, from Philotic Energy.  No scripting, but the feathers can be easily tinted since the hat is mod.  The hair is short, messy, and kind of frantic.

And while we’re on the subject of feathery hats, I would be absolutely remiss if I didn’t mention one of the new piratey hats to come from the talented little fingers of Siyu Suen of Illusions.

They’re all covet-worthy, but my favorite of the bunch is the Bard’s Hat:

Once again, Siyu shows off her unholy talent with sculpted prims.  The hat shape is smooth and perfect. The feathers cascade down the center in a clever mixture of sculpted and flexi prims.  Both the hat and feathers are scripted with a beautiful selection of textures and colors.

I don’t know if any feathered fowl were harmed in the making of this post, but I don’t really care.

SLurls after the cut.
